Ideas have consequences is a series of conferences for university students that take place in Lismullin Conference Centre. Papers presented at the conferences have covered topics such as: ideologies & the cinema, China, the theory of evolution, the information age, Solzhenitsyn, philosophy and science, the philosophy of music, the nation state, approaches to solving the problems in Northern Ireland……

Participants have included students from universities in Dublin and from other Irish universities ….. UL, NUIG, and from other countries; UK, Germany, France, Bulgaria, Poland, Spain and Japan. Recent speakers have include Rod Stoneman, a film producer and former chief executive of The Irish Film Board, Leo Goodstadt, who was Chief Policy Adviser to the Hong Kong Government during the period of transition to Chinese sovereignty, David Begg, General Secretaty of the ICTU ........
