Admission and Fees 2008-2009

1. A student seeking admission should complete the application form and return it to Ely, together with a character reference.

2. Students are required to attend an interview before being offered a place in the residence.

3. Accommodation is reserved only on payment of €300 deposit which will be returned, less any dues, at the end of the academic year. If a student is not offered a place in university, the deposit will be refunded. In the case where a student having taken up residence, wishes to leave before the end of the third term, the deposit will not be refundable since accommodation is offered and accepted for the full academic year.

4. The fee is a full-board, seven-day fee. It includes breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper every day. The fee covers the cost of blankets, bed-linen, weekly laundry service, central heating etc..

5. The fee, calculated on the basis of an average 27 week academic year, amounts to €5,670 (equivalent to €210 per week).  It is payable in three instalments (€1,890 at the beginning of each term).

6. Students staying for longer than 27 weeks will be charged at a rate of €210 per week.

7. Students are expected to maintain the standards of the house with regard to dress, punctuality, tidiness and care of facilities. Since the residence aims to facilitate study and intellectual development, residents are expected to co-operate in every reasonable way to help achieve this objective. Students should be familiar with the residence regulations and abide by them.

8. Students are admitted for one academic year at a time, but applications for further periods are readily considered. Applications from students who are already in university doing under-graduate or post-graduate work are particularly welcome.

9. The residence will open for the first term of the academic year (Michaelmas term) in September. Students who have been allocated a place should ring or write to indicate when it would suit them to take up residence. The student residence closes from December 24 until January 2 each year.
