Freshers’ Seminar

Live the Good University Life!

Going to university can be a challenging experience, and it often takes students a good amount of time before they manage to find their feet — if they ever find them. And not only academically, but also in terms of how to approach life while at university. It is not uncommon to find graduates who never learnt how to make true and lasting friendships, who never learnt how to work seriously and professionally, or who never bothered asking themselves deep and important questions about their lives. University provides you with the gift of a unique interval of time to look round upon the world and upon yourself. This gift should not be wasted.

This seminar, which will be comprised of three short talks, is an introduction to the university life, but more particularly, to the university life at Ely University Centre. Nowadays, most universities don’t really care about their own students’ growth as virtuous individuals. As a result of this, we decided to come up with the Ely Academy, a program in which we aim to help you discover how to be the best version of yourself during your college years, so as to to seek excellence in your work, to use your professional expertise in the service of others, and to see your work in the larger context of a flourishing life.
